High Performance Screen Filtration

  • Filtration degree, flow rate and screen area must be in balance.

For any given flow rate: The finer the filtration degree, the more screen area is required.

For any given filtration degree: The higher the flow rate, the more screen area is required.

For any given screen area: The coarser the filtration degree, the higher the flow rate can be accommodated.

How does Omicron assure reliable operation in the most challenging water conditions?

It's simple. A unique combination of two attributes: Electrically driven technology, and size.

Most automatic screen filters on the market are designed to leverage hydraulic power, not electric. Why? A hydraulically driven filter is cheaper to fabricate. And it's a much older technology. Patents have expired.

In fact, we know of only two manufacturers -- us and the other guys -- supplying screen filters using electric power as the basis of design. So what separates us from that other company?

Size. Their largest single filter element provides a mere 6000 cm2 of screen area. No matter how high your flow rate, no matter how fine a filtration degree you require, If you need more than 6000 cm2 all they can offer you is a manifolded multiple of housings with small elements within.  That means a lot of needless complexity and expense.

To us, 6000 cm2 of screen is a starting point. Our largest stock filtration screen provides 21,300 cm2 of screen area.  That's 3.5x the other company's largest. And when we duplex that in a tightly manifolded skid -- which we often do -- you get an astounding 42,600 cm2 of screen area. That's enough to assure exceedingly fine filtration at hundreds of gallons / minute.

Actually, we build much larger than that, too. Our factory routinely supplies customized solutions to meet any demand.  If it can ship, we can build it.

Filtration that can make it in New York…

Omicron technology is designed to meet the unusual and exceedingly demanding water conditions of New York City, one of the most turbid municipal water supplies in North America.

Omicron filtration systems are now in widespread use in many of NYC's most prestigious buildings, residential, commercial and hotel.

The verdict is in: Omicron delivers maximum reliability and efficiency with respect to both operation and footprint -- in New York City and in many other highly challenging environments and applications nationwide.

All filters are not alike.

While cost of acquisition is always a primary consideration for any project, don't ignore the realities of mechanical physics and assume all filters that purport to achieve your goals will really do so.

Many companies don't make customers aware of their products' limitations -- e.g. the amount of water actually needed to maintain, how much screen area is provided, the cost of manifolding multiple small filters to accommodate a high flow rate, or simply reduced product water quality and reliability.
